Draft 1

Fall Draft 1

Artist Statement: This week we begin to study our own photographers. I decided to learn about Mike Moats and his techniques he used. He is a macro photographer which means he takes photos of plants, animals and flowers up close. In his photos you are able to identify different patterns and colors because each photo is very different from one another. When taking these photos, you needed to be able to maintain patients and focus so that you can get the right picture. I also edited my photos by bringing up the color saturation on each one so they are cohesive with one another. I really enjoyed this weeks work.

  1. The focus and sharpness in these photos make it look so real. The colors stand out a lot. Great work!

  2. I really like the way you composed each image. The framing is just perfect. I would work on increasing the brightness a bit, since most look a tad underexposed.

    Great job.

  3. Great work Sophie!! You did a wonderful job taking the photos so the viewer was able to see the different patterns on each plant. It is very difficult to be so close up and get quality images, but you displayed this perfectly. Nice Work!!!

  4. These photos are so awesome! I love how crisp they are and how they focus on the plant life clearly. These photos are very good and emulate Mike very well. The way you get the background blurry is an incredible effect, keep that up! Continue your good work for next week.

  7. Hi Sophie, I thought you did a good job making the plants and flowers come alive. I especially like how you sometimes capture the water droplets on the plants. It creates a refreshing feeling in your photos.

  8. Hi sophie. These photos of botanical life are really cool to look at. What is working is the graphics and the simpleness of each photo. I am not a photo critic so I have nothing bad to say about whats not working cuz all these look awesome!
