Composition 4: Symmetry, Asymmetry and    Balance

Symmetry: Symmetry is when a photos looks identical on both sides. To tell whether a picture is symmetric, draw a line down the middle of the picture and if it looks exactly the same on both sides you will know its symmetric.

Asymmetry: Asymmetry is when a photo has two objects that have two different weights and sizes.

Balance: Balance is when you have two objects in a photo that can look different but have the same weight.

  1. I really like your asymmetrical photos because they offer a detailed perspective on a variety of subjects. The only suggestion I have is for your last balance photo, as I feel like the two plants don't have equal weight, so I would classify this image as asymmetrical

  6. These are really good, but some of the photos for symmetry are a bit plain. Maybe you could have more variety next time. Other than that, I really liked these.

  8. I really like the shapes and subjects you have chosen for your photos! I think you could have rotated your symmetry photos to better show a straight separating line. I also feel like your last balance photo is better suited for asymmetry. Otherwise, your photos are great!

  9. I really like how you captured the concept of asymmetry in all your photos. I think you did a great job making sure that each photo did not look identical on both sides of the photo. I like your landscape photos because I feel those best represented asymmetry. Overall, great job on all of your photos!

  12. I enjoy the simplicity you have in your post and how the simplicity makes the image seem larger in the context that your objects stand out a lot.
